Johan Walraevens is a designer operating at the intersection of art, architecture, and design. As the founder of Spaces and Objects, he works on a variety of projects ranging from art installations to furniture and architectural designs. His work is characterized by a deep interplay between context, function, and material, deliberately pushing the boundaries between disciplines.
With a technical and theoretical background in architecture, Walraevens combines experimental design approaches with a visual art practice. His work balances between architectural and sculptural forms, emphasizing spatiality and the interaction between object, space, and viewer. He integrates artistic strategies into his design process, exploring the limits of design while challenging traditional notions of functionality and program.
In addition to his design practice, Walraevens is a lecturer at Thomas More University in Mechelen, where he teaches interior, furniture, and graphic design
