Round-Up is an art installation designed for a roundabout in Schilde. The 6-meter-high sculpture consists of horizontally arranged discs made of corten steel, forming a spiral structure. The design creates a perfect synergy between the environment and the artwork itself. The circular discs align with the spiral structure of the surrounding hedge, displaying a rhythmic, repeating motion. The sculpture can be admired from all angles, serving as a visual focal point in the space. The repetitive structure of the design gives the viewer an impression of the whole from a distance, creating a calming, harmonious experience. The symbolism of the spiral and the careful use of materials strengthen the relationship between the artwork and its surroundings. The use of corten steel not only adds aesthetic value but also provides optimal protection against both vandalism and weather conditions, ensuring the artwork’s longevity in this public space. This design invites reflection while providing the necessary tranquility, allowing the viewer’s attention to remain focused on their interaction with the environment and traffic.
