The art project Zeegezichten was created with the aim of involving users of a community center in an integrated artwork that aligns with the building's function and architecture. Since the spaces are mainly used for circulation, relaxation, and work, and the walls are largely occupied by information displays and exhibition areas, a creative solution was chosen: the suspended ceiling. This will be transformed into a dynamic installation featuring 50 black-and-white portraits of users, including visitors to the social restaurant, the daycare center, the library, and staff. These portraits, printed in grayscale on ceiling panels, retain the functional properties of the ceiling, such as fire safety and acoustics. The artwork adds a unique artistic dimension to the building, emphasizing participation and aesthetics. The result is a visually and graphically intriguing artwork that is specifically tailored to this location.
